An oversized washer is a fastener that takes the form of a flat disc with a smooth cylindrical hole in the center, the diameter of which is larger than that of the metric fastener with which it is used.
Applications: DIN 9021 is effectively used when joining materials with a soft structure, such as wood, plastic, etc. It is also commonly referred to as a “rivet washer,” which indicates its intended use. It is also frequently used with DIN 571 self-tapping screws and DIN 975 threaded studs when assembling wooden structures. A distinctive feature of this washer is that its outer diameter is equal to three times its inner diameter, which helps account for these parameters during calculations and installation.
