A DIN 5299 carabiner is a fastener that creates a quick detachable connection of a cable, rope, or rope with another element - a hook, ring, bracket, etc.  DIN 5299 carabiners come in several shapes. But it is the C-shaped design that has become the most popular. The carabiner has an oblong shape with a much wider lower part. This shape of the carabiner allows the product to be used with the simultaneous attachment of two chains or cables to the bottom of the carabiner. The carabiner is equipped with a spring lock that keeps the carabiner closed.

Since the carabiner is considered a rigging device, it is most often made of stainless steel and belongs to the stainless steel fastener group.

Materials for the manufacture of DIN 5299 carabiners

DIN 5299 is made of the following materials:

  • Steel, which can be additionally coated with zinc to protect against corrosion if the fastener is to be used in aggressive environments.
  • A4 grade stainless steel allows the fasteners to be used in case of significant temperature changes and in aggressive and humid environments.

The scope of DIN 5299 carabiners

A fire carabiner will help to quickly and reliably connect safety cables, chains or ropes, and secure such products to a support during rigging and high-altitude work, rescue operations, firefighting, hiking and mountaineering expeditions.
