A spacer washer is a fastener in the form of a flat disc with a smooth cylindrical hole in the center, the diameter of which is slightly larger than that of the metric fastener with which it is used. The difference between the R and V variants lies in the hole: R has a cylindrical hole, while V has a square hole.
Applications: DIN 440 is most commonly used in the assembly of wooden structures due to its ability to increase the clamping area. However, it is also used in mechanical engineering and construction where a strong bearing surface is required at the joint.
