DIN 1478 is a normative document that defines the requirements for a lanyard body. A turnbuckle is a connecting element used to connect cables, chains, rings and other components in elevator mechanisms, ships and other industries.
Fastening group DIN 1478
DIN 1478 lanyard housings are most often made of stainless steel and belong to the stainless steel fastener group.
Materials for the manufacture of DIN 1478 housings
DIN 1478 lanyard housings are made of the following materials:
- Steel, which can be optionally coated with zinc and hot-dip galvanized. Zinc protects against corrosion if the fastener is to be used in aggressive environments
- Stainless steel. A4 steel grade allows the fasteners to be used at high temperature extremes and in aggressive and humid environments.
Application area of DIN 1478 housings
A lanyard body is a workpiece consisting of two halves that are joined together to clamp a cable or other material. The lanyard body has a special shape and threads to ensure that the cable or other material is clamped securely without damage. DIN 1478 contains requirements for the size, shape and thread of the lanyard body, as well as for the materials from which they can be made. Compliance with these requirements ensures the safety and reliability of the connection, reduces the risk of damage to the rope or other material, and reduces the risk of the connection falling off due to external factors.
