A rod with metric threads on both sides, where the screwed-in threaded end has a constant length that is approximately twice the nominal thread diameter of the rod itself. The screwed end of the stud is installed in the screw hole of one part, and the other part is tightened through the through hole with a nut on the loose nut end of the stud. DIN 835 is a standard that describes a threaded rod with a tolerance of 2d. This standard was developed by the German Institute for Standardization (DIN) and contains the technical requirements for this type of fastener.
Strength class DIN 835
The strength class of a Din 835 stud is the maximum applied force at which the stud begins to fracture. Din 835 studs are available in strength classes 5.8 and 8.8. From strength class 8.8, the stud is considered high-strength.
DIN 835 fastening group
Depending on the material of manufacture, DIN 835 studs are divided into groups:
- High-strength fasteners
- Stainless steel fasteners
Materials for the manufacture of DIN 835 studs
DIN 835 studs are made of the following materials:
- Steel in strength classes 5.8 and 8.8. The high strength class 8.8 allows the bolts to be used in highly loaded connections.
- Stainless steel. Steel grades A2 and A4 allow the fasteners to be used at high temperature extremes and in aggressive and humid environments.
Areas of application for DIN 835 studs
A threaded rod with a tolerance of 2d is a part that has the shape of a cylindrical billet with one threaded part and a tapered, non-threaded part at the end. The stud is used to connect parts where it is necessary to ensure a reliable connection with the possibility of additional length adjustment.
