A furniture bolt in accordance with GOST 7802-81 is a type of furniture fastener that consists of a round, thin head and a square head. The square head of GOST 7802-81 prevents the metal product from scrolling at the installation site and makes the fastener many times stronger.
Bolt strength class GOST 7802-81
The strength class of a bolt according to GOST 7802-81 is the maximum applied force at which the bolt begins to fracture. GOST 7802-81 bolts are manufactured in strength classes from 4.6 to 8.8. From strength class 8.8, the bolt is considered high-strength,
Fastening group of GOST 7802-81
Depending on the material of manufacture, the hexagonal head bolt of GOST 7802-81 is divided into various fastener groups: High-strength fasteners - fasteners made of steel with a strength class of 8.8 or higher. Brass fasteners - fasteners made of brass. Stainless fasteners - fasteners made of stainless steel.
Materials used for GOST 7802-81 bolts
The technical characteristics of GOST 7802-81 also directly depend on the material of the bolt.
The bolt of GOST 7802-81 is made of:
- Steel. The range of strength class of this material is 4.6-8.8. In addition, this material can be additionally coated:
1 Zinc for better corrosion protection if the product is to be used in aggressive environments.
2 Dacromet, this type of coating does not cause hydrogen embrittlement on steel. It also has electrically conductive properties; its more electronegative potential in relation to steel creates electrochemical protection in addition to barrier protection.
3 Zinc plate - it has similar properties to ordinary zinc, but the bolt looks matte.
4 Yellow zinc - similar properties to ordinary zinc, but the color of the bolt is different - yellow.
5 Hot-dip galvanized. Products with this coating are the most resistant to corrosion.
- Stainless steel A2, A4, A5. Allows the fasteners to be used at significant temperature changes and in aggressive and humid environments. Also, this material does not require additional coating.
- Brass. Brass bolts are used if the system is subjected to frequent dynamic, vibration and cyclic loads.
Where are GOST 7802-81 furniture bolts used?
The most commonly used bolt of GOST 7802-81 is in furniture production: it is used in the manufacture of upholstered and cabinet furniture made of wood, chipboard and MDF. It is also widely used in other areas. For example, in construction to connect any wooden structures; in mechanical engineering to fasten components that require high precision. In addition, the DIN 603 bolt is used in the installation of road fences and bridge construction.
