Overview
A self-contracting nut is a nut used in connection elements that are constantly exposed to dynamic loads, especially vibration, which can cause loosening. Contraction in ISO 10511 is achieved by a nylon ring in which the thread is cut during tightening.
Strength class ISO 10511
The strength class of an ISO 10511 nut is the maximum applied force that causes the nut to fracture. ISO 10511 nuts are manufactured in strength classes from 6 to 10. From strength class 8 onwards, the nut is considered high-strength.
