A self-contracting nut is a nut used in connection elements that are constantly exposed to dynamic loads, especially vibration, which can cause loosening. Contraction in ISO 10511 is achieved by a nylon ring in which the thread is cut during tightening.
Strength class ISO 10511
The strength class of an ISO 10511 nut is the maximum applied force that causes the nut to fracture. ISO 10511 nuts are manufactured in strength classes from 6 to 10. From strength class 8 onwards, the nut is considered high-strength.
ISO 10511 fastener group
ISO 10511 is made of high-strength steel and belongs to the high-strength fastener group.
Materials of manufacture:
ISO 10511 is available in the following materials:
- Steel, which can optionally be coated with hot, normal, yellow and plate zinc.
Scope of application of self checking low ISO 10511 nut
ISO 10511 is used in mechanical engineering, construction, warehouse equipment, lifting equipment, agricultural machinery, tools, etc. In addition, the scope of application directly depends on the material of manufacture and the coating of the product:
- Galvanized steel provides good corrosion protection if the fastener is to be used in an aggressive environment.
