ISO 7038 Socket nuts are nuts that are used on various types of axles and shafts that are subject to vibration and dynamic loads. Holes are drilled in these axles into which cotter pins are inserted after tightening the nut, which in turn pass through vertical slots in the nut. This allows the nut to be securely fastened and prevents it from loosening during vibration.
Fastening group ISO 7038
ISO 7038 nuts are most often made of stainless steel and belong to the stainless steel fastener group.
Materials for the manufacture of ISO 7038 nuts
The following materials are used to manufacture ISO 7038 castellated nuts:
- Steel, which can be additionally coated with zinc to protect against corrosion if the fastener is to be used in aggressive environments.
- Stainless steel grades A2 and A4. Allows the fasteners to be used at significant temperature differences and in aggressive and humid environments.
Areas of application of ISO 7038 nuts
The ISO 7038 open-ended flare nut is a fastener that greatly reduces the load on the connecting units of mechanisms. It is intended for use in conjunction with bolts that can be completely immersed in the hole. It is mounted by means of a structural part, the so-called crown. ISO 7038 is used in mechanical engineering and construction.
