AISI 316 Ti is an austenitic stainless steel alloyed with molybdenum and titanium. It offers high corrosion resistance in aggressive environments and high temperatures.

Characteristics:

  • High corrosion resistance:
    • in chloride environments, such as seawater.
    • to acids, such as sulfuric, nitric, and phosphoric.
    • to pitting corrosion.
    • to intergranular corrosion.
  • Sensitization resistance: AISI 316 Ti has better resistance to intergranular corrosion after welding or heating compared to AISI 316L.
  • Weldability: easily welded using various methods.
  • Ductility: easily shaped and formed.
  • Strength: high tensile and yield strength.

Disadvantages:

  • Relatively high cost
  • Difficult to machine
